Treatment

Tinnitus patients frequently hear “ringing in the ears,” but they may also hear hissing, clicking, or whistling sounds. Tinnitus (ringing in the ears) is the noise that originates in the ear rather than in the surrounding environment.

How it Works

This treatment trains your brain to ignore your tinnitus, it can be delivered as you sleep or you can listen during the day. It first identifies your tinnitus frequency and then programs a narrow band sound centred on your particular tinnitus frequency, that when played back just below the volume of your tinnitus it will train your brain to ignore your tinnitus.

The more you listen to your treatment, the better the results. This uses the same neurological process that reduces the sensation of pain when you rub a knocked head. Young children who fall and bump their head work out quickly that if you rub the sore spot it gets better quicker.

Please note that some users may become more aware of their tinnitus upon treatment commencement, but this subsides.

This treatment is the acoustic equivalent of “rubbing the head”.

Sleep Mode

Listen to your treatment while you sleep. Your treatment is designed to be listened to in conjunction with sound therapy. Sound therapy is relaxing and has been shown to provide a deeper more restful sleep, so you become even more responsive to your tinnitus treatment and wake up refreshed. Once your sound therapy is finished it will seamlessly fade into your pre-set tinnitus treatment, so you sleep away tinnitus.

The treatment & sound therapy can be completed anytime, anywhere. We recommend you listen for up to 2 hours a day/night and do not exceed 4 hours.

The treatment and sound therapy can be completed anytime, anywhere. We recommend that you listen for up to 2 hours a day/night, 5 days per week and do not exceed 4 hours listening at any one time.

Before starting treatment, you will need to answer 5 simple questions (FiveQ) about how your tinnitus affects your quality of life. This will give you an overall score out of 100, the higher the score the worse your tinnitus affects you. The FiveQ will be recorded so you can monitor your progress over time. We will fine-tune your usage based on your FiveQ answers and listening hours.

What to do

This treatment works on your device (mobile phone, tablet or computer) and your ear/headphones, so there is no need to buy expensive equipment, become accustomed to new technology or purchase new equipment.

Using headphones is recommended for best results. Before you subscribe you must check if you can hear your frequency. When you subscribe you will need to save the frequency and volume of your tinnitus, and whether it affects one or both ears. The treatment then custom designs your audiological treatment program. This is then saved so you can play it at any time.

We recommend that you listen for up to 2 hours a day, ideally using sleep mode and do not exceed 4 hours listening. You can listen in smaller blocks but ideally no less then 15 minutes at a time. You can listen to the treatment whilst performing other activities, you don’t have to concentrate on your customised narrow band acoustic treatment. It really should not interfere with your daily routine. Try listening whilst gardening or sitting on the bus!

Before starting treatment you will need to answer 5 simple questions (FiveQ) about how your tinnitus affects your quality of life. This will give you an overall score out of 100, the higher the score the worse your tinnitus affects you. The FiveQ questions will need to be repeated weekly to monitor your progress. Based on your FiveQ improvement and hours that you listen, we will provide feedback to fine tune your usage.

Time used and FiveQ response will also be available to you in graphical form for ease of self monitoring. Additionally, a mobile app is available for iOS and Android devices. For other mobile devices, you can login and use the website using your, mobile browser and still have access to the treatment.
